Shudu Lake is a highlight place in Pudacuo National park, it is the first stop when clockwise touring the park) can be reached by the park bus departing from the visitor center. You can accordingly choose to tour Shudu by walk or bus. There are 2.7 km raised wooden walkways stretching around the 300 acres lake for the strollers to see the lush forest, mountains, lakes, and the fertile pastures that the Tibetan locals graze their yaks from May to October.

The shudu lake itself is covering 15 square kilometers, and 3,700 meters above the sea level. Shudu in Tibetan language means cheese and stones. From book recording , when a Buddhist master visited this area, local Tibetans offered him cheese; he (the Buddhist master) saw stones in the ranch and wished the cattle of the farmers would be as strong as the stones.

One can trek along the planked path by Shudu Lake to enjoy the picturesque scenery Living in the limpid water of Shudu Lake are fish locally called “Liefuyu” (fish with cracks on their bellies). Furthermore, the lake is shallow enough to be called interestingly “a place where one can fish with a wooden stick”.
